There are certain weekends as a mom that stay with you forever, and this was one of them.
After wrapping up Sims’ senior baseball season, graduation weekend arrived in a blur. Between games, parties, and all the emotions that come with senior year ending, life had felt incredibly full. Still, we knew we wanted to gather family into our home to celebrate this milestone before Sims heads to Auburn University this fall.
Since family would already be in town for graduation, we decided a graduation day lunch made the most sense. It felt relaxed, easy, and meaningful all at once. An Auburn-themed graduation party was the perfect fit for our boy.
One thing I have learned about hosting boys’ parties over the years is this: they do not need to feel overly formal to feel special. Boys truly just want their favorite people and favorite foods together in one place.
I wanted our home to feel festive without making anything complicated. When family gathers to celebrate something meaningful, perfection really is not the goal. A few thoughtful details, fresh flowers, and personal touches go a very long way.
We welcomed guests with the sweetest hand-painted sign from Signs and Sprinkles displayed in our front yard. It immediately made the house feel celebratory before guests even walked inside.
Inside, I kept the decorations simple with orange, blue, and white florals from Blooms by Brint. On the kitchen island, I layered arrangements over a casual paper runner beside the catered food served straight from disposable containers. It ended up being my favorite mix of casual elegance.
We also used navy buffalo check tablecloths throughout the party and added tabletop topiaries decorated with toilet paper to resemble Toomer’s Corner after an Auburn win. (Local friends, I purchased my topiaries from Leaf and Petal. )
We catered Sims’ favorite meal from Zozo’s Kitchen and added a Chick-fil-A nugget tray for the younger kids. It was easy, delicious, and exactly what everyone wanted after a busy graduation morning.

For desserts, we served Auburn-themed cookies, smiley face cookies from Savage’s Bakery, Reese’s in a bowl because they are Sims’ favorite candy, and of course cookie cake to finish everything off. I also found the cutest acrylic Aubie at The Cottage Basket, which added the perfect playful touch to our dessert table. I also used this framed Auburn sign by Paper in A Pinch beside the dessert table. It was both practical and festive, and it tied the Auburn-inspired setup together perfectly.

One of my favorite little setups was our drink station with frosted cups in a favorite Auburn phrase, which every Auburn fan immediately appreciated. We filled simple drink dispensers with lemonade and water and added adorable custom Auburn cocktail napkins nearby. It was uncomplicated, but still felt cheerful and festive for graduation weekend.
At the end of the party, the adults gathered for a champagne toast celebrating Sims and this exciting next chapter.
Some of the sweetest details were also the simplest.

I framed Sims’ senior portrait alongside a favorite photo of him pitching during one of his baseball games. Those personal pieces ended up meaning more to me than any decoration in the house.
For favors, I filled a large antique bowl with koozie drink holders featuring the vintage Auburn “A” logo. I also placed these prerolled napkin cutlery set inside this fun melamime Auburn bowl and layered neutral melamine plates with Auburn disposable napkins throughout the buffet tables.

The heart of the afternoon was simply celebrating Sims and everything he accomplished during his high school years. One of the sweetest moments came when my husband gave a toast about Sims’ dedication in school, his years of varsity baseball, and the kind of young man he has become.
By the end of the afternoon, the house was loud, messy, happy, and full of family lingering long after lunch ended. Honestly, those are always the best kinds of parties.
The graduation party goodies kept our house festive all weekend! The disposable items made cleanup simple, and most importantly, we were able to fully enjoy the people around us. These seasons with our children feel incredibly fleeting, which makes gathering together to celebrate them feel even more meaningful. We were so grateful to celebrate our sweet Sims in a way that felt relaxed, personal, and full of joy. I’ve linked the party items I used for our party below. Love sharing these special moments to inspire more heartfelt parties like this one.
